Pandora Online Workshop: "Women Transcending Literary Boundaries"

The Pandora Literary Gender Studies Association invites postgraduate researchers and doctoral candidates to participate in the I Pandora Online Workshop: Women Transcending Literary Boundaries, an asynchronous online event devoted to exploring women’s participation in literary cultures across historical periods, languages, and geographical contexts.

Women’s contributions to literary history have often moved beyond the works traditionally preserved within the literary canon. Their participation as authors, editors, translators, publishers, readers, and members of literary communities has shaped literary cultures in ways that continue to invite critical reassessment. This workshop aims to provide a space for emerging scholars to examine these contributions from diverse methodological and disciplinary perspectives.

We welcome proposals addressing, but not limited to, the following topics:

• Women writers and authorship

• Literary communities and networks

• Publishing practices and print culture

• Canon formation and literary history

• Reception studies

• Translation and circulation

• Feminist literary criticism

• Recovery of neglected or forgotten authors

• Archival research and manuscript studies

• Book history and material culture

• Gender and literary institutions

• Comparative and transnational perspectives

Participation is completely free of charge. The workshop will be held entirely online and asynchronously over two days:

• 23 October 2026: Participants will watch the recorded presentations uploaded to the workshop’s official YouTube channel.

• 24 October 2026: Discussion will take place asynchronously through Google Chats. Participants are expected to engage with the presentations by posting questions and comments addressed to fellow presenters.

To receive the Certificate of Presentation, participants must:

• post at least two questions or comments addressed to two different presentations;

• respond to any questions or comments received on their own presentation.

The discussion will remain open throughout 24 October 2026 until 23:59 (CEST).

Abstract Submission

Abstracts should not exceed 200 words and should clearly present the research question, methodology, and main contribution of the proposed paper. Please send abstracts to info@pandoraliterarygenderstudies.com with the subject line “I Pandora Online Workshop: Women Transcending Literary Boundaries”.

Submission deadline: 15 September 2026 (23:59 CEST)

All submitted abstracts accepted for presentation will be circulated through the Pandora Literary Gender Studies Association Newsletter, allowing participants to share their research with the Pandora’s members after the workshop.

Presentation Guidelines

Accepted papers will be presented in the form of a pre-recorded video presentation.

Presenters must:

• appear on screen while delivering the presentation;

• display their presentation slides throughout the talk;

• ensure that the presentation does not exceed 15 minutes.

Videos exceeding the time limit will not be accepted.

Submission deadline: 10 October 2026 (23:59 CEST)

Following submission, the Organising Committee will upload all accepted presentations to the workshop’s official YouTube channel, where they will remain available for registered participants during the event.
