About the event

PLGS International Conference 2026: "Female CorpoRealities"

Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, Universidad de Alcalá (UAH)

April 15–17, 2026

Plenary speakers:

The 2026 PANDORA Conference, hosted by the University of Alcalá de Henares, invites proposals for papers exploring the multifaceted theme of “Female CorpoRealities.”

This conference seeks to engage with the intersections of the corporeal and the real in representations, experiences, and theories of the female body. The title gestures to the material, symbolic, and discursive dimensions through which female bodies are written, read, regulated, and reimagined. How is the body inscribed in literature and culture? How do gender, sexuality, race, class, ability, and technology converge to shape the lived realities of female embodiment?

We invite contributions that interrogate the construction, performance, and subversion of “female corporealities” across literary, artistic, philosophical, and cultural domains. Papers may address, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Theorizing embodiment and materiality in feminist thought

  • Representations of female bodies in literature, film, and media

  • Corporeality and affect

  • The politics of visibility, performance, and resistance

  • Bodies, borders, and belonging

  • Desire, sensuality, and the body as a site of expression and agency

  • Disability and the gendered body

  • Digital, virtual, and posthuman corporealities

  • Sexuality, reproduction, infertility and bodily autonomy

  • The body as archive, text, and site of memory

  • Ecofeminism and the environmental body

  • Queer and trans perspectives on corporeality

  • Violence, vulnerability, and care
